Congratulations on Your New Home!

Now that you've closed, here’s a checklist to help youtransition smoothly into homeownership.

Before Moving In

✔ Deep-clean the home – Even if the previous owner cleaned, sanitizing key areas like
kitchens, bathrooms, and carpets is a good idea.

✔ Pest control check – Inspect for signs of pests.

✔ Test all major systems – Run the HVAC, appliances, and plumbing to ensure everything
works.

✔ Locate main shut-off valves and breaker box – Know where to turn off water, gas, and
power in case of an emergency.

✔ Inspect and replace air filters – Improves air quality and HVAC efficiency.

✔ Check for leaks and plumbing issues – Look under sinks, around toilets, and in the
basement.

✔ Rekey locks or install smart locks.

Within the First Few Months

✔ Meet your neighbors – Building good relationships can be helpful for security and
community involvement.

✔ Explore your local community! We have great parks and restaurants all over. I would be happy to give you my favorite restaurants and things to do.

✔ Create a home maintenance schedule – Regular upkeep helps prevent costly repairs. This
includes:

  • Changing HVAC filters every 1-3 months
